Somatic therapy is a biological model that works directly with the body’s autonomic nervous system (ANS) to treat symptoms of distress and trauma.
EFT as well as TRM methods(read below) can release blocked energy which, in turn, can reduce or even eliminate your psychological stress and physical pain.
I have specialized training and certification in two different styles of somatic therapy:
- The Trauma Resiliency Model, or TRM, places organic emphasis on the body’s innate or natural healing capacity. Somatic TRM methods are used to restore the body’s natural resilience. If you are “stuck” in a state of physical and/or mental arousal or “high anxiety,” TRM methods serve to “re-set” your nervous system back to a much more comfortable level.
The emphasis on your ANS helps you see your symptoms as biological, which in turn helps to reduce any shame and self-blame you may be feeling.
- The basic principle of EFT - Emotional Freedom Techniques - states:
“the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”
EFT is effective at working on most symptoms and it is safe for everyone. EFT is also something you can learn and use for yourself at home. I am a certified EFT practitioner and can teach you the simple tools of EFT to help yourself.
